Papa Jack Baseball League

Papa Jack, who played 10-years in the MLB, is a dedicated Birmingham native. Following retirement as a player, Jackson coached in the Minors and Major Leagues for 21-years. The 2003 BoSox Man of the Year continues his run by being heavily involved in community youth baseball development such as coaching the Birminghamâ??s Willie Mays Youth Baseball team. In 2014, Jackson led the program to win the Reviving Baseball in Inner City (RBI) Classic Championship. Papa Jack works tirelessly to ensure the access and development of youth baseball, especially amongst the underprivileged.

Ron "Papa Jack" Jackson Baseball Foundation advocates for the holistic development of youth through sports.

The organisation offers experiences targeting minorities, underprivileged and at-risk youth. We understand that sports are deeply rooted in the culture of the State of Alabama, and we feel that our programming will be inclusive for those who otherwise wouldnâ??t have access to organised sports and elite-level experiences and coaches. Facilitating programming targeting the minorities, underprivileged and at-risk youth in the community will garner local, regional, and national support and campaign for social equity in youth recreational initiatives.

The vision for the community is to inherit RBI programming. RBI is a youth baseball program operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) with the purpose to introduce innovative concepts/training to promote the play, offer in-depth knowledge of the sport and enrich the lives of the youth and families involved. Ron â??Papa Jackâ?? Jack Baseball Foundation will extend its efforts to the City of Irondale and will introduce an opportunity for the target audience to receive high-level training/instruction with access to baseball professionals and legends, mentorship, travelling opportunities, and talent exposure.
